James Bynum currently serves as a representative of District 1 on the Weakley County Commission. He is currently serving his first elected term as Weakley County Commissioner, after being appointed to fill a vacant seat by the Weakley County Commission in March of 2012.
James Bynum was born in District 1, is a life-long resident of the district, and has a special place in his heart for the resident of this area.
Mr. Bynum is a graduate of Palmersville High School and retired after 33 years of employment with Hubble Lighting Company in Martin. In his retirement, he is actively involved in raising beef cattle and hay on a small farm north of Palmersville.
Mr. Bynum has been the husband of Mary Dalton (Glover) Bynum for the past 55 years. Together, they have on daughter, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren whom all call Weakley County 'home'. Mr. and Mrs. Bynum are members of Union Chapel Church of Christ near Palmersville.
Mr. James Bynum stated:
It has been an honor and a distinct priviledge to represent the citizens of the First District of Weakley County. It has truly been a pleasure meeting the people of the First District and listening to your concerns for the County. I have made every attempt to serve the people of the First District to the best of my ability. I have worked to represent the best interests of the tax-payers and citizens of the district by being responsible and accountable to the people. I have worked to be available and open to all the citizens in the district. I have served on the Committee overseeing Weakley County's roads, and I have worked to be a voice for the people of this county. I have welcomed the questions that have been poised by the citizens, and I have sought be honest and direct in providing the answers. I am deeply interested in the future of Weakley County and I want to continue to work diligently for the benefit of future generations. I am committed to seeing Weakley County grow, and the lifestyle we enjoy in this county progress. I pledge to work closely with the people of the First District, as well as other members of the Commission to ensure the forward progress of Weakley County.
