Larry Hudson is currently serving his first term as Weakley County Commissioner. He is Commissioner in the 2nd district. Larry Hudson was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and attended Antioch High School where he was an avid sports enthusiast. In 1976, he came to Weakley County to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin to play baseball for the Pacers. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 1981.
Larry made his home in Weakley County after he married the former Kay Sanders of Gleason in 1980. He is the proud father of two daughters, Haley Hudson Armstrong of Somerville, TN, and Kayla Hudson Irvin of Jackson, TN. He has two grandsons, Hudson Armstrong who is 1 and Jase Irvin who is 3.
Larry served as alderman on the Gleason City Board for a two year tenure in the 90s. He is an active member of the Gleason First United Methodist Church where he has served and is presenting serving on numerous church committee. His work as lay leader, a member of the church trustees and finance committees, and the church council have been wonderful opportunities for service to the church and community he loves so much. His vision for church outreach prompted the "Harvesters," a church visitation group that seeks those in the Gleason Community in need of a church home. He has worked numerous years with both the pee wee softball and basketball programs in Gleason. For his time and dedicated service to the youth of Gleason, the Woodmen of the World chapter presented him with the coveted Youth Service Award.
Larry has worked for 34 years as partner at Steele Plant Farms. This family owned sweet potato mail order business ships sweet potato plants across the United States. Outside of work, his interests include church activities, spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching basketball, deer hunting, and golfing.
Larry is thankful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Weakley County and District 2 and takes the obligation very seriously. Every decision he makes will be prayerfully considered and faith based to promote growth, good will, and advancement for Weakley County and its citizens.
