Solid Waste Event

This event is held yearly at the Convenience Center for the disposal of various items. For 2018, the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event took place on Saturday, April 14th, from 8:00 a.m. - 12 Noon.

The event was a great success!

Because of your participation, 48 households attended the event.

  • 234 pounds of Flammable Liquids (Lighter Fluid, Gasoline, Lamp Oils)
  • 100 pounds of Non-Flammable Liquids
  • 318 pounds of Poisonous Material (Pesticides and Herbicides)
  • 97   pounds of Aerosols (Spray Paint and Cleaners)
  • 50   pounds of Fluorescent Lamps 
  • 72   pounds of Corrosive Material (Oven Cleaner, Bleach, Draino)
  • 39   pounds of Oxidizing Materials (Peroxide, Pool Chemicals)
  • 1     pound of Elemental Mercury containing Material.
  • 9     pounds of Sharps
  • Event Total Weight 1,826 

All of these materials of total waste were kept out of the environment by your commitment and taking your time for attending the event. We wish to congratulate you on your participation and diligence for keeping the environment safe for you, your family and all the citizens of your county. "Household Hazardous Waste" is defined as corrosive, flammable or toxic materials used in your home, car or truck, garden or lawn.

*Latex: Water-based paint can be dried and taken to a landfill.

We accept waste oil, auto and lawn batteries all year. Small alkaline batteries can now be landfilled since they have no mercury. This event is sponsored by Weakley County and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and is for households only - No Business Waste.
